"Favorite Authors" is the March theme of Storytime at the Cortez Public Library. Storytime is held every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. for pre-school aged children. Older children are welcome to join the craft at 11:15 a.m. "Jan Brett" will be the focal point for Thursday, March 11th. Storytime offers songs, stories, crafts and silliness. Introduction to Irish Music
The Mancos Public Library and host James Goff present an Introduction to Irish Music on Monday, March 15th from 7-9pm at the Mancos Public Library. There will be players and instruments such as the harp, penny whistle, and Irish bohran (BORE-ran) to help explain Irish music and it's history and influences. Samples of Irish food will be provided and participants are encouraged to bring their favorite Irish dish to share as well. This event is free and open to the public. Preregistration is required. CARE to Wait Program for Middle School Youth and Parents
If you have a child age 12to 14 you qualify to be part of a research project through Colorado State University Extension that studies what parents are doing to support teens during the difficult middle school years. Parents and youth fill out a confidential survey 3 separate times and receive $30 each time. The Study also offers an opportunity to be involved in 11 weekly workshops with your youth to strengthen their life skills and receive $200 upon completion. Kayak Roll Sessions at Cortez Rec Center
Kayakers have an opportunity to practice rolls at the Cortez Rec Center Pool. Experienced kayakers will be present to help novices with their skills. Participants must have their own kayak equipment.
