To date, Cornerstone Capital Campaign has raised more than $700,000. Of this amount, more than $100,000 came from individuals and business in Montezuma County. These local donations, ranging in amounts from $5 to $15,000, made it possible for us to secure the remaining amount in grant funding from foundations who recognize the value of our project and the commitment of our community. Fundraising is complete for the west building, construction is well underway, and the KSJD studios will move into its new home in January, 2012.
We're now raising funds, both locally and in the form of grants, to convert the east side of the building into a 100-seat performance venue, community meeting space, offices for non-profit organizations, gallery space, and more. If we have funding in place by the time construction is complete on the studio side of the building, we'll be able to move right into this final phase of renovation in early 2012, saving money and time.
The corner of Main and Market in Cortez is about to become a hub of community activity, a vital downtown anchor that will help our local economy, and a place for people to communicate and connect. We are excited about seeing this project come to fruition and witnessing the positive impact it will have throughout the Four Corners area.
For every dollar you give to Cornerstone, the State Historical Society will match it with $3 more, up to a total of $320,000. This will fund the first phase ofconstruction, which includes the restoration of the Montezuma Valley National Bank's exterior and rehab of the interior to make way for KSJD Studios and the Story Vault where area residents can record and store oral histories.
