About two weeks ago, a group of about 50 community and tribal leaders, school administrators, and members of local nonprofits gatheredat the Cortez Recreation Center to talk about how to prevent suicide and bullying in the community. They talked about current issues facing the community, and how to share resources and information between different groups to help decrease the factors that lead to bullying and suicide. Organizing the meeting was a small group of community members who first convened a group in November after the suicides of two young people in the area. Marinda Harrison is one of the group who organized the meeting. KSJD's Austin Cope sat down with her to learn more about how the group got started, and what direction organizers hope to take the meetings in the future.
