Cortez "March for Our Lives" Draws About 250 People

About 250 people marched in Cortez Saturday as part of a nationwide effort to support greater gun safety. The event was part of the March for Our Lives, which brought more than a million passionate demonstrators to the streets in more than 800 cities around the country. The Cortez event was organized by the Student Montezuma Alliance for Unity. A number of students spoke at a rally before the march, sharing the sense of fear they feel in school. They called for stricter controls on assault weapons and stringent background checks for gun-buyers. Meanwhile, more than a thousand people took part in a march in Durango, according to the Durango Herald.
