Cortez Micro-Brewery Gets the Go-Ahead

The Cortez City Council unanimously approved a liquor license for a new micro-brewery Tuesday night in front of a jovial crowd of nearly 50.

One of the owners of the WildEdge Brewing Collective, Tucker Robinson, told the council his goal is to “create a really good community space in Cortez based around the art and craft of great beer.” Five citizens spoke in favor of the new establishment, saying it will enhance and expand the downtown area. No one spoke against it. City Manager Shane Hale said staff determined the brewery, to be located at 111 North Market Street, just meets the requirement of being at least 500 feet from the Children’s Kiva Montessori School at 25 North Beech.
