Jim Mischke pursued one avenue to process his time serving in the Vietnam War: writing about it.
Mischke recalls his time as a B-52 bomber field maintenance sergeant in “The Raven and The Dove: Thai Tales of Barracks, Bombers, Brothels and Buddhas.” To help the other servicemen through difficult times, he would remind them of the experience they would share 50 years later.
“We’re all gonna walk out of this place carrying a great story,” Mischke said. “And we’re gonna tell our grandchildren about it.”
