Gary Farmer’s Performance Philosophy

Whether it’s on a stage or on the screen, Gary Farmer has a lifetime of experience performing for an audience.

Farmer’s most recent work has focused on music with his band Gary Farmer and the Troublemakers, who are in the midst of recording a new album. Throughout his life, he’s also acted in films alongside the likes of Kris Kristofferson and Robert De Niro. As he continues creating and performing, Farmer sticks with a philosophy he’s developed.

“Magic can happen,” Farmer said. “You always gotta be prepared to give way in my theory of life.”

He joined KSJD’s Daniel Rayzel ahead of Saturday’s concert at the Sunflower Theatre to discuss his creative output and the areas where actors and musicians overlap.
