How The Montezuma County Hospital District is Impacted By Colorado Legislature's Pot Tax Error

Austin Cope

At the direction of Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, Colorado's legislature returned to the state capitol early last week to fix a technical error in a bill passed last session. The error prevented recreational marijuana sales tax funding from being spent by certain special districts in Colorado, including Rapid Transit Denver (RTD), the Denver Zoo, and the Montezuma County Hospital District. To find out how this error is affecting the district, KSJD's Austin Cope spoke with Keenen Lovett, a local attorney who represents the hospital district, and Kent Rogers, CEO of Southwest Health System, whose company rents the district's property.
