Mesa Verde Bookstore Will Pull Out of Cortez's Colorado Welcome Center

Austin Cope

The Colorado Welcome Center in Cortez will no longer sell tickets for Mesa Verde National Park’s tours. The Mesa Verde Museum Association has run a bookstore and ticket-sales operation in the center for the past 10 years. But in a press release Monday, the organization announced its plans to leave the Welcome Center at the end of October. The association’s board cited cost concerns as the primary reason to leave. Jonathon Brooks from the City of Cortez said the City hopes to work with Mesa Verde to continue to sell tickets in the future.
