The Navajo Nation is taking public comments and planning a work session on legislation regarding a replacement lease for the controversial Navajo Generating Station near Page, Arizona.

On Thursday, a legislative committee voted to table the measure, which would extend the operation of the coal-fired power plant through December 2019. The plant’s owners had hoped to begin decommissioning it earlier. The Navajo Speaker’s Office has tentatively set a work session with stakeholders for June 14th in Window Rock, Arizona.
