Scott Tipton Discusses Public Lands, Taxes, and Immigration in Interview at House Creek

Austin Cope

Colorado’s 3rd District Congressman Scott Tipton (R-Cortez) took a field trip on Friday to Sage Hen and House Creek recreation areas, two of McPhee Reservoir’s boating access points, which have now been closed due to concerns about invasive mussel infestations. Montezuma County Commissioner Keenan Ertel, San Juan National Forest District Ranger Derek Padilla, and Montezuma County Natural Resource and Public Lands Coordinator James Dietrich joined the congressman to discuss access.

After they finished the tour, Tipton took a few minutes to speak with KSJD’s Austin Cope not only about the boat ramps, but also about other issues facing him and other lawmakers in Washington including public lands, the budget, and immigration. Click below to listen.

Austin Cope is a former Morning Edition host for KSJD and now produces work on a freelance basis for the station. He grew up in Cortez and hosted a show on KSJD when he was 10 years old.
