Story of Body Found Near Denny Lake Emerges

A Cortez man whose body was found south of Denny Lake on May 2nd is believed to have shot another man the night of March 27th before fleeing to an open field where he died of hypothermia, possibly that same night.

The Cortez Journal reports that 26-year-old Charles Oliver Evans is believed to have shot 19-year-old Ocean Rodd during an argument at the Vista Verde Village mobile-home park. The victim, wounded in the neck, survived. The Journal reports that Evans’ death has now been ruled an accident.
