KSJD's Jeff Pope talks with Darla Sanders from local VFW Post 5231 and Disabled American Veterans about upcoming fundraising events these organizations are sponsoring, and her perspective on proposed budget cuts to veteran's benefits programs.

Now Holway is stuck: He can't get medical care from the VA for the disorder that he says caused him to get kicked out of the Army in the first place.
  • The use of marijuana for PTSD has gained national attention in the past few years as thousands of traumatized veterans who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan have asked the federal government to give them access to the drug. Marijuana's active ingredient has been shown to calm the brain's fear circuits. Of course, there are drawbacks and side effects to contend with.
  • A radical group with links to al-Qaida has taken intermittent control of key parts of Fallujah in western Iraq. It's the same area where U.S. troops saw some of their bloodiest fights during the Iraq war a decade ago, costing the U.S. more lives than any other region in Iraq.
