Three bears were shot and killed Saturday by Colorado Parks and Wildlife because they were causing problems in the Durango Hills subdivision.

The Durango Herald reports the sow and two yearlings had been breaking into houses and garages for weeks. On Saturday, one reportedly broke into a 2005 Honda, leading agency officers to shoot the animals because they had become too accustomed to humans. The spokesman said garbage and numerous bird feeders helped attract the bruins.
