Hemp Producer Eyes Dove Creek Plant for Cannabidiol Oil Production

A Florida-based firm is interested in purchasing Dove Creek’s vacant sunflower-oil-processing plant to use for producing hemp.

The Dove Creek Press reports that two representatives from Bayfront Capital told the Dolores County commissioners October 16th that they would like to buy the facility in November and start production six weeks after. They reportedly are interested in producing cannabidiol oil, a non-psychoactive substance with medical uses. However, county officials voiced concerns about the fact that hemp is still illegal at the federal level, even though it and its mood-altering cousin, marijuana, are legal in Colorado. The board will take up the issue at another meeting.
