California Governor Jerry Brown made a brief appearance in Cortez on Sunday.
Brown, the longest-serving governor in his state’s history and a former presidential candidate himself, reportedly met with about 50 supporters at Montezuma County Democratic headquarters. He gave a short speech supporting Hillary Clinton and urging action on climate change. The vice chair of the Montezuma County Democrats, Alan Klein, tells KSJD the event came together with little warning and when he first got a text saying Brown would be at “Democratic headquarters”, he thought it was in another state. Brown reportedly also spoke in Durango, Ignacio, and Pagosa Springs.
