Former Oilfield Worker Appointed to Montezuma Planning and Zoning Commission

The Montezuma County commissioners have chosen Rob Pope to fill a seat on the Planning and Zoning Commission left vacant by Michael Gaddy, who is moving.

Pope is a former oilfield worker who has done construction and development throughout the Four Corners. The commissioners selected real-estate broker Stan Pierce as an alternate for the five-member board. Eight people applied for the position and planning staff narrowed the candidates to four whom they recommended. The four were interviewed in public session after audience members objected to the interviews being conducted in private.

Gail Binkly is a career journalist who has worked for the Colorado Springs Gazette and Cortez Journal, and was the editor of the Four Corners Free Press, based in Cortez.
