Some 150 people marched Saturday in downtown Cortez to honor and recognize women’s achievements.
The Montezuma Alliance for Unity sponsored the event. At a rally afterward, Cortez Mayor Karen Sheek noted the many local women who have served in political office and as heads of businesses and nonprofits. She added that lesser-known women make significant contributions as well by raising families and helping the community.
