A chip-and-seal project for the West Mancos Road (Forest Road #561) has been delayed a second time because of wet conditions. The project to pave five miles of bumpy road from the San Juan National Forest boundary to Transfer Campground is now set to begin Monday, Aug. 7th. During the four-day project, visitors will encounter numerous construction vehicles. Motorists should expect delays of up to 30 minutes during construction, and are advised to drive slowly to prevent cracked windshields.
