Dolores Man Creates Speed Skating Track and Hockey Rink Near Town

After a section of McPhee reservoir near Dolores froze this winter, a local business owner decided to turn it into a place to ice skate. Nicholas Ian Tyson Jones runs Lizardhead Cyclery, but he likes to speed skate in his spare time. He cleared a track for speed skating near the McPhee Overlook trailhead, as well as a ice hockey rink on the Dolores River near Joe Rowell Park. KSJD’s Austin Cope went to Dolores on Wednesday to see the track and learn what Jones has done to create it.
