Montezuma Inspire Coalition Names Two Employees to Coordinate 1.8 Million Dollar Grant

Montezuma Inspire Coalition

A group of about 20 non-profits in and around Montezuma County, known as the Montezuma Inspire Coalition, has received almost two million dollars from Great Outdoors Colorado. It’s a grant that’s intended to promote programs that will encourage kids to spend time outdoors. The coalition has recently hired two employees to coordinate the grant implementation.

KSJD's Austin Cope spoke with Montezuma Inspire Coalition Coordinator Ami McAlpin, and School-based Outdoor Learning Labs coordinator Amy Hartline to learn more about the grant and how they plan to direct it.

Austin Cope is a former Morning Edition host for KSJD and now produces work on a freelance basis for the station. He grew up in Cortez and hosted a show on KSJD when he was 10 years old. After graduating from Montezuma-Cortez High School in 2010, he lived in Belgium, Ohio, Spain, northern Wyoming, and Himachal Pradesh, India before returning to the Cortez area. He has a degree in Politics from Oberlin College in Ohio.
