In Mancos, New Utility Increases and Watering Restrictions
Mancos residents will see a slight increase of water and sewer rates next month alongside current watering restrictions.
Officials made notice of the utility changes in early June to go in effect on July 1.
The base gallons allowed will drop 1,000 gallons to 6,000 gallons, and residential water rates will increase 98 cents to $40.20 per month. Commercial and public (schools, churches and government buildings) rate increases will be similar, and all will pay $2 for each additional 1,000 gallons used. After 9,000 gallons, it increases to $4 per additional 1,000 gallons used.
All adjusted rates can be found here in the full resolution.
Also recently enacted was a set of watering restrictions for the town, effective immediately. Officials detailed the order in an online notice stating that Mancos does not have a water shortage and that the action is to prepare for the possibility of senior water right holders using the town’s stored water.
Residents are to only water during morning and evening hours, and only on days matching the even or odd number ending their address. At this time, there is no expected end date for the restrictions.
