City of Cortez Employees Will Get Raises as Part of 2018 Budget

Austin Cope

With sales-tax revenues up for the sixth year in a row, the Cortez City Council on Tuesday night passed a $32 million budget for 2018. In a memo to the council, City Manager Shane Hale said 2017 sales-tax receipts are up 6 percent over the previous year’s so far. The budget includes increases in employee salaries ranging from 1 to 4 percent, to be awarded on a merit system.
