Cortez to Host Open Houses for Input on New Park

Cortez Parks and Recreation

The City of Cortez is seeking public comment on the incoming community park at 7th and Oak streets.

The park will stand at the site of old Montezuma-Cortez High School after a lengthy discussion on what to do with the vacated land. Three open houses are to be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. each day with a different focus:

August 13 at Evangel Assembly of God — Suggestions for what should be included in the new park, as well as park names.

September 18 at the new park’s site (7th and Oak streets) — Review park designs and choose favorites.

October 10 at the new park’s site — Review the park’s final design and recommend a name.

The city encourages those interested to attend all three meetings to be involved in the full public decision process. An online survey collecting input will double submissions as entries for a $100 gift card.
