The McPhee boat ramp is set to open in less than two weeks to motorized vessels.

Beginning April 13, the ramp will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. On May 1, hours will expand to 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Additionally, the House Creek boat ramp will open on May 1 and operate Friday through Monday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In a release, the Dolores Ranger District said McPhee Reservoir still has ice and low water levels.

Boaters must register their boats for the season prior to visiting McPhee, and boats will be inspected by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Mussel Inspection Program before launching.

A spill is likely to occur from McPhee this year, according to Mike Preston of the Dolores Water Conservancy District. In an interview with KSJD last week, Preston remained cautiously optimistic for a spill, pending upcoming forecasts.
