Boggy Draw also received prescribed burns in early June.

The Dolores Ranger District has announced plans for additional prescribed burns in Boggy Draw this fall. The burns are expected to take place in the coming days as long as conditions remain favorable for fuel and weather.

3,702 acres of Boggy Draw have been identified for burning along FSRs 526, 527, 528 and 529. A map is available below.

Smoke will likely be visible from surrounding areas, including Montezuma and Dolores counties and Pagosa Springs. In a news release, the San Juan National Forest said smoke is expected to drift northeast and settle into valleys overnight.

The service will also be updating the prescribed burn’s Inciweb page with more information.
