Temple Emanuel in Pueblo plans to install security cameras after the arrest of a man who allegedly planned to blow up the synagogue over the weekend. A statement from Temple Emanuel says police have also increased area patrols. A Southern Colorado man has been charged with a federal hate crime.

Justice Department officials say 27-year-old Richard Holzer of Pueblo planned to destroy Temple Emanual. According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney for the District of Colorado, Holzer allegedly met with undercover agents to talk about a plan, then visited the synagogue multiple times. The plan was supposed to be carried out early Saturday morning, according to the affadavit.

Authorities in the release called Holzer a self-identified skinhead and a white supremacist. In the complaint supplied by the Justice Department, authorities say Holzer was preparing for a "racial holy war," and that his actions meet the definition of "domestic terrorism." The affidavit also alleges Holzer used social media accounts to promote white supremacy and related violence.

The official charge is attempting to obstruct religious exercise by force using explosives and fire. If convicted, Holzer could face 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

A hearing for Holzer was set for Thursday. The Associated Press reports that's been moved to Friday at the request of Holzer's public defender.
