Southwest Open School in Cortez, or SWOS, started its school year at the beginning of August. SWOS is an alternative charter high school that serves 90 percent at-risk students. Its new director Charlotte Wolf is in the process of learning what they call SWOSology—a character education course required for everyone on the school campus.
