NCAR Fire compounds collective hardship in south Boulder

Plumes of smoke rise from the NCAR fire on Monday, which continues to burn near Boulder.

Firefighters continue to battle a blaze near a national research facility in Boulder. The so-called NCAR Fire has burned around one hundred and ninety acres of open space since it started Saturday afternoon. Emergency management officials say the fire was 68% contained as of yesterday evening.

For Rocky Mountain Community Radio, KGNU's Shannon Young visited the site of the fire Saturday and spoke with people nervously watching the columns of smoke in the neighborhood below.
