Author Heather Mundt has written a new guide to encourage people of all ages to get outdoors. She spoke with KGNU's Shannon Young about The Colorado Family Outdoor Adventure: An All-Ages Guide to Hiking, Camping, and Getting Outside.

The book explores all areas of the state and grades activities in terms of difficulty and age-appropriateness, so readers will know which activities are suitable for young kids, teens, and older relatives.

Heather Mundt’s list of 10 Colorado Kids’ Rites of Passage are:

  • Children’s Museum

  • Mesa Verde
  • Four Corners
  • State Capitol
  • Water World
  • Red Rocks
