The Sunflower Theater in Cortez, Colorado, is celebrating its 10th anniversary in style with a two-night Gala event on April 18 and 19, both starting at 7pm. The Gala, a variety show featuring a dynamic mix of performances, highlights the talent and creativity that have made the theater a beloved local institution.

A Night of Fun, Laughter, and Variety

The Gala promises a range of performances from local artists, regional talent, and community members. With everything from stand-up comedy to improv, poetry readings, and live music, the event guarantees something for everyone. Notable acts include comedian Laura Ripple, spoken word poets Kirbie Bennet and Vincent Courus, and the talented Marilyn Kroeker, a local singer-songwriter.

While the Friday night Gala will be a laid-back, informal affair, Saturday's event offers a chance to dress up in your version of “Four Corners formal.” The more formal evening will also feature catering from Kelly’s Kitchen and a special tribute to Kim Welty, the Sunflower Theater’s founding director, as well as the Volunteer of the Year, Carol Stout.

A Tribute to the Community

This two-night Gala is not only a celebration of the Sunflower Theater’s achievements but also an opportunity to honor the contributions of those who have volunteered at, performed onstage, or supported the venue over the years.

Tickets and More Information

Tickets for the Gala are available online at sunflowertheater.org. Whether you’re coming for the laid-back fun of the first night or the glitz and glamor of the second, the 10th Anniversary Gala promises to be a memorable celebration of Cortez’s vibrant arts community.

Mark your calendar and don’t miss out on this landmark event at the Sunflower Theater.

LP recently moved to the Four Corners from Austin, Texas, where they worked as a Case Manager for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and in HOA property management where they were fortunate to learn many different styles of communication and creative thinking/problem solving. In their time away from work, they watch a ton of movies (spanning all decades, nationalities, and genres), and tries to listen to one really good album every day.
