This week, Colorado lawmakers ran out of time to refine the state's AI regulations, which are set to take effect next year. Last year, Colorado became the first state to implement rules protecting individuals from faulty AI decisions in areas like hiring, loans, and college admissions. While lawmakers had hoped to make updates before the rules go into effect, they couldn’t reach an agreement. This leaves the current policy, which has raised concerns in the tech and business sectors, set to take effect in February 2026. Governor Polis has also called for adjustments to the law.
