Directors' Gathering Invites Curious Creatives to Take on 10-Minute Plays

The Sunflower Theatre’s 10-Minute Play Festival is finalizing its lineup after collecting submissions from playwrights across the Four Corners states. And each of those plays will need a director.

On Feb. 12, the theatre will host the Directors' Gathering, organized by the Sunflower Troupe, in hopes of recruiting prospective directors. That could be you, even if you have no directing experience.

Troupe member Heidi Brugger says working on a 10-minute play is a great place to build on your creative urge.

“Every director will have a different technique or a different philosophy,” Brugger said.

KSJD’s Daniel Rayzel spoke with Brugger about what the gathering looks for in new directors and what skills they could develop.

The Directors' Gathering meets on Feb. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sunflower Theatre. More information can be found at sunflowertheatre.org.
