An Update on the "Paths to Mesa Verde" Project

Montezuma County

A little over a year ago, officials from Montezuma County, state, and federal agencies started a plan to build a bike and pedestrian route between Cortez, the Mesa Verde National Park entrance, and the town of Mancos. Called the “Paths to Mesa Verde,” it was championed by the Colorado governor’s office as a way to increase connectivity and encourage outdoor recreation. Now, the county is in negotiations with landowners, and that process may take a while. For more, I spoke with Montezuma County Natural Resources and Public Lands Coordinator James Dietrich in his office to get the latest updates on the project.
