Hovenweep Campground: A Remote Getaway with Stunning Views

Ways To Subscribe

Good morning! I’m Lacy McKay, and here’s your daily dose of the KSJD Outdoor Report for May 1st. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape, Hovenweep Campground near Hovenweep National Monument is the perfect spot. With 31 reservable sites surrounded by juniper and sagebrush, you'll enjoy easy access to trails and incredible stargazing in this certified International Dark Sky Park. While there are no RV hookups or dump stations, some sites can accommodate RVs up to 36 feet. Reservations are required, and you can book through Recreation.gov. Don’t forget to respect the area’s cultural significance and pack out all trash.

Lacy McKay is the News Director and Morning Edition Host at KSJD Community Radio in Cortez, Colorado. They bring years of experience in audio production and community-centered reporting, with a focus on rural issues, public lands, tribal affairs, and civic engagement in the Four Corners region.
