Don’t forget the lunar eclipse tomorrow morning, starting at 4am and peaking just after 4:30.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is reminding hunters that the application period for 2026 big-game licenses opened over the weekend and runs through April 7 at 8 p.m.. Hunters are encouraged to review the new Big Game brochure available on the CPW website for changes to seasons, fees, and licenses, and to apply early to avoid delays.

This year includes several updates. Wild bison are now classified as a big-game species under new state law, though no regular hunting season is planned. CPW will also require mandatory chronic wasting disease testing for elk harvested under certain rifle hunt codes. Meanwhile, nonresident archery elk licenses west of I-25 are now limited and must be drawn.

Officials are also reminding hunters that gray wolves are federally and state protected, with significant penalties for illegal killing. More information and applications are available at cpw.state.co.us.
