A 64-year-old Norwood woman was seriously injured Tuesday in a snowmobile accident near Telluride. The Montrose Daily Press reports that the unidentified woman was thrown into her handlebars when she hit a ditch while riding in the Beaver Park backcountry. Her husband then rode toward snowmobilers in the distance, who turned out to be guides with Telluride Outside. They built the woman a fire and drove until they could find cell reception to call for help. The Daily Press says some two dozen rescuers struggled in deep snow for hours to rescue the woman, who was flown to Mercy Medical Center in Durango with blunt-force trauma injuries.

Former Mancos Marshal John Cox asked his deputies to run license-plate queries on all white dually trucks in town in order to find out the identity of a romantic rival. That is among the allegations contained in a Colorado Bureau of Investigation report dated October 28th. District Attorney Will Furse has filed six misdemeanor charges – including perjury, false reporting and official misconduct – against Cox, who resigned November 16th. The CBI report say deputies Yvonne McClellan and Jason Spruell refused Cox’s request about the trucks but Cox apparently ran the queries himself. The CBI report also alleges that Cox ticketed a woman for speeding and claimed his radar had clocked her when in fact he had just “visually estimated” her speed.
