37 New U.S. Citizens Welcomed in Boulder Library Ceremony

Every week across the U.S., thousands of immigrants take the final step toward citizenship. Last year, more than 800,000 people were naturalized.

On Tuesday, 37 new Americans from over 20 different countries gathered at the Boulder Public Library to take the oath of allegiance. The event marked the culmination of months of preparation for some participants, including time spent in a citizenship class offered at the library itself.

In a moving audio postcard from KGNU’s Sam Fuqua, several of the new citizens share their reflections and pride in reaching this milestone. Among them was Maeve Conran, who now serves as Managing Editor of Rocky Mountain Community Radio and was one of the ceremony’s honorees.
