KSJD's Executive Director Tom Yoder recently sent out this communication on the station's future following the recent recission vote by Congress.
Dear friends of KSJD,
Big thanks to all of you who took the time yesterday to make a last-ditch appeal to Congressman Hurd about opposing the rescission bill. As most of you probably already know, our efforts were unsuccessful and funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting was eliminated when the bill passed in the House earlier today. This is a difficult and disappointing result, especially since this funding had already been previously approved by Congress.
KSJD is now faced with difficult decisions, and we are taking a thoughtful approach to how we move forward without this vital funding. Please know that KSJD will continue to provide you with the news, music, and information you have always relied on, but you may hear some changes. We remain deeply committed to our mission to inform, entertain, and empower the community of the Four Corners area through our public media service.
And now our future depends on the community more than ever. KSJD has always relied on you, our listeners and supporters, for a large portion of our operating budget, and now we need you to help us create a sustainable future for the station. If you are already a sustaining monthly donor, please consider increasing your monthly gift. Even a little bit makes a big difference. And if you support KSJD with individual donations during our fund drives or once in a while, please think about becoming a monthly sustaining donor. It is easy to set up on the donation page at KSJD.org.
KSJD has been and will continue to be a place of joy, connection, and resilience. Stay tuned!
With deep gratitude,
Tom Yoder
