A federal grand jury in Denver has indicted the man accused of plotting to blow up a synagogue in Pueblo on three charges, including the original charge of a federal hate crime.

Richard Holzer, 27, now also faces charges of attempted arson and using a fire or an explosive device to commit a felony crime.

Holzer remains in federal custody and is scheduled to appear in court Monday for an advisory hearing and arraignment. If convicted on all counts, the Justice Department says Holzer could face up to 50 years in prison.

Authorities arrested Holzer in early Novemberfor plotting to blow up Temple Emanuel in Pueblo. According to the complaint, the self-identified skinhead allegedly met with undercover agents to talk about a plan, then visited the synagogue multiple times. He was then arrested after allegedly obtaining what he thought were explosives from undercover agents.

The arrest prompted the synagogue to install security cameras, though officials there said increasing security measures has been a priority since the deadly attack at a Pittsburgh synagogue last year.
