Andrea came to KRCC in 2008 by way of Missouri. She’s responsible for KRCC’s overall news presence, and oversees a cadre of staff, freelancers, and students.  Her award-winning work has been heard on NPR, The World (PRI), and the BBC. A ceremony Monday at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs marked the official re-opening of the U.S. Space Command. 

Governor Jared Polis is supporting calls for an independent investigation into the officer-involved shooting in Colorado Springs that resulted in the death of 19-year-old De'Von Bailey. 

The Colorado Springs Police Department has released body camera footage and other information related to the officer-involved shooting that resulted in the death 19-year-old De'Von Bailey. The shooting sparked community rallies, a call for patience from Mayor John Suthers and a press conference with the family.

Efforts to pay for the new Summit Complex at the top of Pikes Peak are a few cents closer, after Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers emptied his pocket change and became the first donor to a new fundraising campaign.

The United States Air Force has confirmed four locations in Colorado as among the six finalists for its new Space Command headquarters. Three Colorado Springs locations were named as possible locations—Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, Peterson Air Force Base and Schriever Air Force Base—as was Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora.
