Deseret News

The question of whether President Obama will create a 1.9 million acre national monument in Southeast Utah in the last days of his administration is gaining national attention, most recently with a front page article in Sunday's New York Times.  KSJD's Jeff Pope and Gail Binkly take a deeper look at what a monument might mean for an-already strained local conversation around public land.

Gail Binkly is a career journalist who has worked for the Colorado Springs Gazette and Cortez Journal, and was the editor of the Four Corners Free Press, based in Cortez.
