The population of Cortez will swell by about 10 percent on June 21st.

That’s when the Bicycle Tour of Colorado is expected to bring 600 to 800 cyclists into the city. Most will camp at Montezuma-Cortez High School, and the city will provide a free shuttle from the school to downtown at Market and Main streets from 2pm to 9 p.m. The Cortez Cultural Center will help hydrate the riders with a beer garden from 2pm to 8pm. The annual tour starts in Montrose this year and makes a loop through Durango, Cortez, Telluride, and Naturita before returning to Montrose.
