Montezuma County Commission Chair Larry Don Suckla shakes the hand of Colordo Lieutenant Governor Donna Lynne on Thursday afternoon after a kick-off meeting for the Path to Mesa Verde bike trail planning

Colorado Lieutenant Governor Donna Lynne visited Cortez on Thursday to ride the Phil's World Mountain Bike trail and help kick off the planning process for the Path to Mesa Verde, a trail planned to stretch between Cortez, Mesa Verde, and Mancos.

After her ride she met with the Montezuma County Commissioners, officials from towns of Mancos and Cortez, as well as Mesa Verde National Park, and other public lands agencies.

The meeting began the planning process of the new trail, which began on Wednesday evening. KSJD's Austin Cope caught up with Lieutenant Governor Lynne after Thursday's meeting to learn more.
