A Grand Junction man suspected of killing an elderly couple in Williams, Arizona, on May 1st was captured Friday night after a chase on Highway 491 north of Cortez.
Twenty-nine-year-old Derrick Shawn Barnett is being held at the Montezuma County Detention Center pending extradition to Arizona. Montezuma and Dolores County sheriff’s officers and the Colorado State Patrol were involved in pursuing Barnett, who was reportedly spotted near Dolores following a tip and then fled in a 1978 Dodge Power Wagon.
