The Utah Attorney General’s Office has filed charges against San Juan County, Utah, Sheriff Rick Eldredge in connection with a 2016 incident in which he allegedly pointed a firearm at one of his employees.
Eldredge was charged with retaliation against a witness or victim, a felony; and three misdemeanors – reckless endangerment, obstruction of justice, and official misconduct. Two deputies allegedly conducting a bogus investigation into the incident face similar charges. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Eldredge allegedly pointed an unloaded assault rifle at an unidentified employee with whom he’d had a confrontation and pulled the trigger. The employee, who reported the incident, was fired in February.
