Health care and the Sage Hen recreational area were among the topics of a wide-ranging discussion Monday between the Montezuma County commissioners and a representative for Colorado Senator Cory Gardner.
Commission Chair Larry Don Suckla told Ann McCoy Harold he has received numerous phone calls about the Senate’s latest health-care bill, and Harold said her office staff has been overwhelmed with calls. The commissioners also reiterated their desire to take over Sage Hen, but Harold said Gardner believes transferring ownership to the county would be difficult. He suggested a management agreement instead. But Commissioner Keenan Ertel said that would mean the county would have to abide by Forest Service regulations, something they want to avoid.
