San Juan County, Utah, has a new director of economic development. The San Juan Record reports that Natalie Randall, the current director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Monticello, was picked from among nine applicants. She fills a position vacated by Charlie DeLorme, who reportedly was terminated in March after having been placed on administrative leave in January. DeLorme had led economic-development and visitor-services efforts since 2006 and was widely recognized in the industry. However, according to the Record, the county commissioners had concerns about DeLorme’s focus on tourism over other types of economic development as well as the amount of traveling he did. Randall was chosen by a committee that included two county commissioners and other officials. She is to start work in August.
