Colorado Department of Local Affairs
A map from the state demography office website shows Colorado's projected population change from 2015 to 2040.

Colorado is expected to become a more crowded place in the future. Recent forecasts from the State Demography Office predict the population could swell to 8.5 million by 2050, up more than 50 percent from 2015’s 5.5 million. Projections are that Montezuma County will grow to about 44,000 people by 2050, 64 percent above current numbers, while Dolores County will grow by 21 percent and La Plata County by 70 percent.
