Authorities are searching for a Rico man who has been missing since early September. Mineral County Sheriff Fred Hosselkus says his office received a 911 call from 51-year-old Rico resident Matthew Johnston on September 4th. They traced the location of the call to the Lobo Point overlook on Wolf Creek Pass, and found his car parked nearby. But after multiple searches of the area and a dog team sweep on Tuesday, Hosselkus says they have not found any traces. Johnston is described as a white male, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and has shoulder-length brown hair and a beard. He has had “some criminal background,” according to Hosselkus, but is not wanted or considered dangerous. The Archuleta County and Dolores County Sheriffs are working together on the case, and Hosselkus encourages anyone who sees an individual matching his description to contact their local authorities.
